The Rebelettes roll up to the WIDA East Of Scotland Feis 2026
It's that time of year when the Rebelettes hit the WIDA East of Scotland Championships. This year we swelled our ranks with some brand new Rebelettes - Holly, Aoife and Maya, not to mention our stalwarts Zoe, Julia, Jessica and of course, Phoebe. The Rebel Mums seemed to have a great time too judging by the smiles on their faces at the half time break...
Up first were the wee-ones. Rebelette Aoife dancing in her very first competition started us off with a fantastic jump-2-3 and easy reel. She danced beautifully and completed all her dance steps without hesitation. Hot on her heels was Rebelette Maya, again dancing in her first ever competition. Mirroring Aoife to take on her jump-2-3 and easy reel, she dance with a composure we've not seen before and finished her dances in style.
Next up was Rebelette Holly who only took up Irish dancing in June! She blew them all away and floated around the dance floor like we've all seen her do in training. Without being overawed she danced like a girl possessed in her Beginner premiership and came away with the top spot and is now moving up a grade in to Primary. What a 'fire-cracker' she is developing in to.
Rebelette Zoe took to the dance floor next and kicked off her competition with a flawless slip jig and reel in the Primary grade and won her way into Intermediate. Up next was her Primary premiership where she dazzled us with her new found vigour and stormed to the top of the podium with a stunning brace of dances.
Rebelette Julia was next and we're so proud of her for dancing the heavy jig for the first time, and what a performance it was... Thundering across the dance floor with perfect rhythm and style to be awarded with a first place. Looks like new choreography is on the cards. Her premiership was next and although we all thought she gave a phenomenal performance, it was a second place waiting for her today...
And then there was Rebelette Jessica. Dancing all in black like a stealth Ninja she took to the primary grades floor and dazzled us with some of her best dancing we've ever seen. Round after round she gave her all and it paid off spectacularly in the Primary premiership where she battled with dancer some of whom more than twice her age to rise triumphant to the number one position. The 'fire-cracker' done it again and is now looking towards the Intermediate grades.
Senior Rebelette Phoebe rounded off the day in the Open Championship competitions. In true Rebel fashion she slogged it out with the best dancers at the feis and dominated the championship with a dazzling display of her newly choreographed slip jig which wowed the onlookers. A fabulous set of rounds took the title. The girl is back on top form!!
